Please find below the agenda for the July 15, 2019, meeting of Brandon’s City Council.
Tonight’s meeting is a fairly lengthy one (agenda wise). Included in this council meeting is a report on both special meetings held on June 26, 2019, & July 9, 2019. Both meetings were to explore opportunities for affordable housing and market opportunities in the City of Brandon.
As well we have presentations from Western Asphalt on their Limestone Road development, an application for a business license, a presentation from a resident regarding challenges with the provincial assessment branch in Manitoba and a number of other items.
Two items of significance for University ward residents, first the rezoning of 2605 and 2611 Rosser Ave. will receive a third reading. This essentially solidifies the by-law to proceed with the building of an 8-unit building at the corner of Rosser and 26th street.
As well, the rezoning of a number of residences along the East side of 21st street will receive first reading. Many resident’s of the University area will remember the public consultation that took place regarding this zoning issue. The houses are currently zoned EI (Educational), which is somewhat limiting for expansion, changes etc. The city is proposing rezoning this side of the street to RMD (Residential Moderate density). There is no debate on first reading, it merely gets the proposed bylaw on record. More debate on this will follow in the subsequent meetings.
That is all for now. As always, feel free to tune in on the City of Brandon Youtube channel, or join us in the council chambers (starting at 7 p.m.)
Cheers,
Shaun
