Clark Drive- Responses

I will post questions and follow up to your enquiries here (all confidentiality will be respected and no resident will be named).

It will appear as follows (for example). I will also attribute the response to a specific staff member from the city.

Q: What is the main issue here?
A: The main issue is a concern with Clark Drive sewer backup issues. (S.Cameron, Councillor)

Q: How do I make a claim?
A: Claims questions can be answered by calling Michelle Bamford (Risk Assessment, City of Brandon) at (204) 729-2209 or emailing m.bamford@brandon.ca . Information on the claims process can be found here: http://brandon.ca/property-damage-information . There is a handy tool on there as well as a list of FAQs.

Q: What is being done?
A: City officials shared that they are going to review the Water & Wastewater bylaw and revisit the standards for removal of oil & grease prior to discharge into the system. They will also double the rate of inspection of commercial business in the area of Clark Drive (as there are a number of business’ tied into the various lines there). They also note that they are moving to weekly inspections of the domestic sewer manhole on Clark Drive near Victoria in an effort to pre-empt any potential blockages while they research a more permanent solution that could be put in place.

Over the past number of months, flow meters were operated in the sewer line.  The flow measurements were taken over several weeks assisting in determining if capacity is an issue or if blockages occur from time to time.

The information collected will determine the remedial actions we may take moving forward.
